Grace Marie Vera Antonio proudly continues a legacy of public service as the granddaughter of the late Congressman Rufino Antonio and daughter of former City Councilor Georgie Antonio.
She first ran for public office in Mandaluyong City as an Independent Councilor and was successfully elected for three consecutive terms—in 2013, 2016, and 2019. During her tenure, she served as the Committee Chairperson on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Social Services, where she championed numerous significant programs and legislation aimed at promoting the welfare of women, children, and families in the city.
As a legislator, Councilor Antonio actively authored and supported the passage of key ordinances and resolutions that provided protection and support for marginalized and vulnerable sectors of society. Among her most impactful programs are:
✅ HIV-AIDS Prevention and Control Program – A citywide initiative that promotes education and awareness on HIV-AIDS, reduces stigma, and encourages early testing and treatment.
✅ Solo Parents Ordinance – A local law that ensures solo parents receive adequate support and benefits, including financial assistance and access to livelihood programs.
✅ Children’s Welfare Code – A comprehensive ordinance that protects children from abuse, exploitation, and neglect, while guaranteeing access to proper education, care, and support services from the city government.
Continuing Service in the Modern Era
Even after completing her three consecutive terms as councilor, Councilor Antonio’s commitment to public service did not wane. She was appointed as Project Manager for the digitalization of Mandaluyong City Medical Center (MCMC)—a progressive initiative aimed at improving the hospital’s efficiency through the integration of modern technology. Under her leadership, medical records management was streamlined, and access to quality healthcare services for Mandaluyong residents was significantly enhanced.
Because of her unwavering dedication, Councilor Grace Marie Vera Antonio has been recognized not only as a capable and diligent legislator but also as a compassionate public servant. Her vision is clear: to continue driving genuine reform and inclusive progress for the people of Mandaluyong.
